Bridging the Gap Between SNF and Home- Part 1

*This course has been pre-approved by NCTRC for 5 clock hours.

This course explores geriatrics and the rehab setting, at common diagnoses that bring them o the rehabilitation setting and we will explore functional and behavioral adaptations for these conditions as well as physical and physiological challenges that may result from these conditions. We also explore aging with a Preexisting disability and how it may impact persons with intellectual disabilities, serious mental illness and physical disabilities.

Course Objectives

  • Identify 3 age related health conditions seen in the rehabilitation setting for older adults

  • List Functional and Behavioral Adaptations for common health conditions seen in older adults

  • Explain how aging with a Preexisting disability may impact persons with disabilities

Angela Goldschmidt, CTRS

Instructor Bio:

Angela Goldschmidt is a certified therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). She has a Bachelors of Science, Recreational Therapy with minors in Gerontology and Socio-Psychology from Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, OH. She has 12 years CTRS experience in the Long Term Care, Geriatrics and Physical Rehab settings and over 22 years experience with the geriatric population. Currently a stay-at-home mom to 4 girls, she is excited to be able to share her experience and knowledge of therapeutic recreation for the geriatric population.
