Addressing Cognitive Distortions Through Therapeutic Recreation
*This course has been pre-approved by NCTRC for 5 clock hours.
This course will review the cognitive distortions discussed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and how Therapeutic Recreation can address these thinking errors. A brief overview of CBT and a discussion of the TR interventions to address unhelpful thinking styles will be included. This course includes interactive activities to help the learner recognize thinking errors. At the completion of this course, participants will need to pass an exam with a minimum score of 70%. Participants must complete the course within 365 days of starting the course to receive a completion certificate.
Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify ten unhelpful thinking styles.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify a minimum of five Therapeutic Recreation interventions that address unhelpful thinking styles.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify their own unhelpful thinking styles as RTs.
