Overcoming Social Anxiety Using CBT-Based Recreation Therapy

*This course has been pre-approved by NCTRC for 5 clock hours.

In this comprehensive course, RT’s will delve into the world of social anxiety, gaining a deep understanding of its’ psychological and physiological underpinnings. Students will explore the lived experiences of individuals dealing with social anxiety, providing RT’s with a compassionate perspective to inform their therapeutic practices. Students will learn to design and deliver program services for individuals affected with Social Anxiety. At the completion of this course, participants will need to pass an exam with a minimum score of 70%. Participants must complete the course within 365 days of starting the course to receive a completion certificate.

Course Objectives

  • Students will be able to define social anxiety, identify common triggers, and recognize the physiological and psychological responses associated with social anxiety.

  • Students will have a comprehensive understanding of how social anxiety affects the lives of those diagnosed.

  • Students will be able to identify and apply evidence-based therapeutic techniques within the field of recreation therapy to address social anxiety effectively.
