Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder

*This course has been pre-approved by NCTRC for 5 clock hours.

During this course, you will learn about Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), what it is, how it affects youth, how it is commonly treated, what we can do as RT providers to help our clients with this diagnosis, and tips for implementing RT services with your clients who have DMDD. At the completion of this course, participants will need to pass an exam with a minimum score of 70%. Participants must complete the course within 365 days of starting the course to receive a completion certificate.

Course Objectives

  • By the end of this course the student will be able to identify symptoms of DMDD and differentiate between other disorders that may look similar.

  • By the end of this course the student will be able to identify how DMDD affects behaviors and the lives of those with the diagnosis.

  • By end of this course the student will be able to identify at least three specific RT interventions that can be used to assist clients with coping with the symptoms of DMDD while staying in the scope of RT practice.

Instructor Bio:

Christi MacWilliams is a CTRS in the greater Austin area. She has worked with the mental health population since 2012 through psychiatric facilities and contract work. Currently, she works with teenagers through the YES Waiver program in Texas. Christi also co-owns Honey Bee Therapies, a local contracting agency in Austin.
