Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

*This course has been pre-approved by NCTRC for 5 clock hours.

During this course, students will learn about the diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), what it is, how it affects youth, and how RT's can develop interventions and programs to help youth with this diagnosis. Students will also review various scenarios of youth with ADHD, apply learned knowledge to identify the differences of the types of ADHD, and learn additional information related to this diagnosis. At the completion of this course, participants will need to pass an exam with a minimum score of 70%. Participants must complete the course within 365 days of starting the course to receive a completion certificate.

Course Objectives

  • By the end of the course the learner will be able to identify the three subtypes of ADHD, the symptoms, and how they present in youth.

  • By the end of the course the learner will understand how ADHD affects those with the diagnoses at home, school, and in social settings.

  • By the end of the course the learner will have an understanding of how to develop effective RT interventions to assist youth with an ADHD diagnosis to cope with ADHD symptoms.
